A Learjet 35A being flown by two men from a Michigan based charter company crashed during approach to Chicago Executive Airport killing them both. Witnesses reported seeing the aircraft heading nose down into a Cook County Forest Preserve area. This recording begins at 1:31 pm with the initial fire dispatch by Red Center. The exact crash site was difficult to locate by responding police and fire agencies. The lack of fire and smoke provided no clues to ground responders. The wreckage field was contained and its mainly white appearance blended with the snow. However 26 minutes after the initial fire dispatch the crash site was located along the bank of the Des Plaines River by WBBM reporter Kris Habermehl overhead in Chopper 2.
