Get started now; submit your own story!
Headlines will keep you up to date on the cool things happening every day on Justin.tv. People like you submit interesting stories from around JTV that are read by everyone in the community. Our editors will read every story submitted and promote the best ones all over JTV.
Why submit a story?
In addition to getting your stories promoted around the site you also get access to an exclusive new set of badges:
The best stories fit into one of the following three categories: funny (makes people laugh), human interest (the story behind a special accomplishment or tragedy), and newsworthy (related to stories that appear in major news sources).
- Friends - First places to look should be your friends and the broadcasters you already know because it will be easier to write about news that you already have some background knowledge of.
- Search Around - If you're interested in gaming (for example) use JTV's built-in search to find that new game that's coming out or is that is already out that you want to review
- Browsing Clips - User created clips are made every minute and not only is it entertaining to blindly click interesting looking clips, but you'd be surprised how many are really out there. Not to mention that there is no better way to discover new broadcasters.
- Be Active in the JTV Community - The more connections you make with other users the more stories you'll have a chance to obtain.
- Exclusives - Be the first to find out the latest news and updates though the connections you've made with other users.
- Experience - The more stories you write the more exposure and recognition you'll get from your peers, but don't forget that quality is far more important than quantity.
- Don't Rule Out the Chatters - Even though it's the broadcasters that usually get most of the attention and clips are where most of the stories come from you'd be amazed at some of the great opportunities to write about come from the text in the chat rooms.
- Gossip and Rumors - Beware of things that you overhear or read because the last thing you want to do is write something that is false because it's not just effecting the subject you're writing about, but it's also hurting your reputation as a reliable news source.
- Negative News - Not only will negative news not be acceptable by JTV standards, but your story won't be accepted by the community. No one gains anything from negativity except for more negativity. Everyone benefits from well written, positive, and entertaining submissions. It betters your reputation and it betters the community as a whole
- Rewards - Don't forget: if you are an active member of JTV Headlines and your stories are widely enjoyed by the other users then you'll be rewarded in many ways including badges, acknowledgement from peers, and even prizes such as iPods.
