After doing a 28:47 run offline last night, I returned to Justin.tv to get a sub-30 run on video. After a few hours, with a 30:36 run recorded and timed in Wsplit, I pushed forward and finally got my sub-30 run. This route isn't anywhere near the optimal speedrun path, and this run is getting near the fastest it can get without learning more speedrun techniques. less

This is where the magic happens. I don't really understand how that MIPS star door clip works, but I want to do it like this consistently. It save me a lot of time jump kicking backwards at the door trying to pass through it. less

My first real practice runs with Wsplit resulted in this kinda decent time. Justin.tv split this highlight, so this first part is getting the 15 stars necessary for MIPS to show up. less

This weekend, I participated in my first Ludum Dare competition, as Dr. Mo. After they announced the theme, "Tiny World," I had 48 hours to make a game by myself. I decided to make a game where you drive a tank around an asteroid defending it from falling bombs. It has my first released original music, all 6 seconds of it! Anyway, the result wasn't half bad. You can see the development blog and download the game for Windows at http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=8780 less

I don't play strategy games, but after going to PAX East and seeing League of Legends everywhere, I decided to give it a shot. Even with a couple seasoned LoL players in my Steam voice chat, I still can't play this game worth a damn. less

My first SpeedRunsLive.com race went pretty well. Zozoken came up with an idea to race parts of seven Mario games (SMB1, SMB3, SML1, SML2, SMW1, SMW2, and SM64.) Just like the last time I played one of his races, I was doing okay until I wasted 10 minutes trying a speedrun trick. Rules are at http://pastebin.com/xYspXpvK and results are at http://speedrunslive.com/profiles/?player=hitstun less
On Thursday nights, I attack my game collection and try to play through a game from start to finish. My game backloggery has gotten rather ridiculous; you'd be surprised what I own but have never finished. With off-topic banter in my chat and on my Skype, I'm taking on my backlog one game at a time.
