Picture of my Grandfather's brother, my uncle Leonard, and my beloved Mother as a little girl - during World War II (taken on Neptune Avenue in New Rochelle). Lenny was a specialist in communications on bombing missions. He would later escape from behind enemy lines & earn the Silver Star, an SMSGT; she would give birth to me (many years hence), her only son. I rescued this picture from the bottom of one of his musty old foot-lockers in an attic in Darmstadt, Germany. He is now resting in Arlington where I sent him back to be buried in 2004.
