The hens are grooming each other. At the first few months they are constantly moving uneasily, waking every few minutes at night, not used to being locked in the same A4 page space.

An cheap egg a day. This is the main and only reason these three hens are living in this tiny cage which can't fit them.
The cage was originally designed for a single hen, but it is cheaper to just put in three hens on a microwave sized cage.
They cannot spread their wings or even stand up streight!
But how long do they really have to put up these conditions? a year or too. Then they are moved to even smaller cages, and sent to be slaughtered or squashed. less

The three hens are preparing to sleep. The floor is an open net, so the cold is getting from below. They are never allowed to feel a solid groud, only this slanted wire frame on which they live on.
Every movement of one of them is a movement of the three of them.
